Once upon a test
- animated short film

Project duration: July 2024 - Jan 2025

For this project I am the Producer working on budget sheet, festival distribution, fundraising campaign, Press kit and more!

This short film is directed by Venetia Theodosiou(me) and is currently on a festival run.

Logline:

A high-achieving student struggles with a learning difficulty during a timed test. As anxiety builds, reality distorts, and a terrifying creature in her mind grows. With guidance from her teacher, she faces the monster within, embracing her challenges to find clarity and self-acceptance.

Synopsis:

Venice, a determined student, faces a timed test that triggers her deep-seated anxiety and learning challenges. As the clock ticks, numbers on her paper distort, and a shadowy monster of her fears grows within her mind, feeding on her rising panic. Just when the pressure becomes unbearable, her teacher’s calming voice brings her back, guiding her to breathe and find her center. In her mind’s dark space, Venice confronts the monster, ultimately embracing it as part of herself. By accepting her learning difficulties, she finds clarity and completes the test, realizing that her challenges are not her weaknesses, but her strengths in disguise.

Summary:

During a tense test in a silent classroom, Venice feels the pressure mount as the clock ticks down to the final minute. Her heart races, and the numbers on her test paper begin to blur and rearrange, leaving her unsure of her answers. As classmates start finishing and handing in their papers, the noise around her adds to her anxiety. Overwhelmed, Venice clutches her necklace, her breathing quickens, and she freezes in place. Suddenly, she finds herself in a dark space within her mind, where a looming shadow begins to grow larger with each panicked breath.

In her mind's dark depths, as the monster loomed closer, growing larger with every breath she took, the girl realized there was no escaping the monster this time... or was there?

My work as a Producer

Organisation:

I was in charge of team planning and task division. For that reason I made task lists that had weekly tasks lists that were reviewed by the team to be sure that they could be done in that time and were fairly distributed.

For planning and scheduling I set up a canvas board planner.

I also created the production pipeline to keep track of all major tasks and be sure we weren't falling behind.

Before production started i also set up an online breakdown sheet for easy access from the whole team.

I set up a OneDrive to archive and save our pre-production, production and post-production.

Communication:

For communication I set up WhatsApp and Discord and gave the team the option to use what they were most comfortable  leading to visuals using more the WhatsApp and the dynamic designers and music designers using more the discord. For that reason i set up links pages in both to connect them easily to both and I also provided all the information they needed in both programs.

After also learning how my team receives feedback the best I set up a guide for backgrounds designers and some visual keyframed feedback for the dynamic designers.

Research:

I am now working on a festivals information excel sheet, as well as a budget sheet for the team expenses.

I am also in the middle of creating a OneDrive as well as an E-Press Kit.
